Lead Pastor Travis Hayman


Travis Hayman began serving as Lead Pastor in August 2018, with a heart to revitalize the local church. He and his family love Nacogdoches and how God is working in University to reach the community. Prior to coming to University, Travis served as Worship Pastor for 20 years in churches in East and South Texas. Travis is an alumni of Liberty University. He loves to tell the story of God's work in bringing families to join this incredible work at University. He has 5 children and an amazing wife, Jodie, who love serving Jesus as a family.

Administrative Pastor

Dennis True

Dennis serves as the Administrative Pastor. He and his wife, Terri, are thankful to be part of God’s amazing ministry here and to be a part of a great ministry team.Prior to entering ministry, Dennis spent 15 years in the U.S. Navy and then went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree from Liberty University. Dennis has served as Children’s Minister, Students' Minister, and Church Administrator at previous churches.Dennis has served University in many capacities from Children’s Pastor to Senior’s Pastor, Administrator, and Facilities Director as well as many other functions. Dennis and Terri have a passion for serving the Lord in whatever capacity is needed. They want to be an example of Love in Action!

Youth & College Pastor

Noah Short

Noah graduated from SFA and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and a minor in Psychology. He has served in many different ministries throughout high school and college. He has served as a children’s ministry intern, a college ministry intern, as well as a youth interim pastor. Noah desires to create a familial atmosphere among students and young adults; a place where laughter can be mixed with the reading of Scripture. Like all the ministries at University, the end goal for those who are part of the ministry is to grow closer to Christ and to be able to share His truths with others. 


Worship & Media Pastor

Sam Hernandez

Sam and his family joined the University Family in 2021. Before stepping into ministry, Sam earned a bachelor’s degree from University of North Texas in Music Education and was an orchestra teacher in the DFW area. Sam desires to be a catalyst for the people in Nacogdoches to encounter the Father’s wonderful love through song and discipleship.
